Actor Irrfan Khan has been promoting his upcoming Hollywood movie ‘Inferno’ religiously. It was during one of the media interactions for the movie the versatile actor tried avoiding giving his opinion on the ongoing controversy related to ban on Pakistani artistes. After repeatedly being asked, an irritated Irrfan reportedly said why Indian actors were being asked this question.
The demand for ban on Pakistani artistes has drawn mixed reactions from Bollywood. While all celebs have condemned acts of terror, few felt that banning artistes was not the solution while others differed.
Reportedly, when Irrfan was asked to speak his mind on why Pakistani artistes haven’t condemned Uri attacks, Irrfan reportedly replied,
“Why are we being asked to speak on behalf of Pakistani artistes? If you have a question, ask them.”
Irrfan Khan then went on to say that Pakistani artistes being tight-lipped means that maybe they will not be safe in their own country if they condemn the attacks.
On the question that Bollywood has contrasting voices on this matter, Irrfan said that since he was not in country he doesn’t know about it. When asked about the money that Pak artistes make in India, Irrfan said that the government should answer this.
“You'll need to ask the government this, why they're being issued visas,” the 49-year old reportedly added.
At a time when almost everyone has a say on this, Irrfan’s reluctance to give his opinion hints that he doesn’t wish to start any controversy.
Irrfan’s ‘Inferno’ which stars Oscar award winning actor Tom Hanks will release tomorrow. The movie is releasing in India a week before its US release date only because of Irrfan’s presence.
