Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted which released on May 25 got mixed reviews from critics. The film which revolves around nabbing ''India's Osama'' has been directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. However, the action-thriller opened to low numbers at the box office. Though footfalls increased later in evening, India's Most Wanted couldn't earn more than Rs 2.10 crore. Meanwhile, Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi surpassed India's Most Wanted by earning Rs 2.88 crore at the box office. The biopic on PM Modi has been helmed by Omung Kumar.

Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to put first day numbers of both the films. ''#IndiasMostWanted struggles... Records extremely low numbers on Day 1, although biz picked up towards evening... Needs miraculous growth on Day 2 and 3 to salvage the show... Fri ₹ 2.10 cr. India biz,'' he wrote. In another tweet regarding PM Narendra Modi's first day box office collection, the trade analyst wrote, ''#PMNarendraModi had a lukewarm start in the morning, but picked up speed as Day 1 progressed... Evening shows witnessed better occupancy... Fri ₹ 2.88 cr. India biz''.

PM Narendra Modi triggered a lot of controversies ever since the trailer was released. After release date being pushed due to polls, the movie released only to add to the celebration of Narendra Modi's landslide victory in Lok Sabha election 2019. Besides Vivek Oberoi, the movie also features Boman Irani, Zareena Wahab, Barkha Sen Gupta, Manoj Joshi, Rajendra Gupta and Darshan Kumar in important roles.

On the other hand, Arjun plays the role of an intelligence officer Prabhat in India's Most Wanted. The movie also features Rajesh Sharma, Prashanth, Shantilal Mukherjee and Amrita Puri in pivotal roles.

In an interview, Raj Kumar Gupta opened up on how Arjun came on-board and why he thought the actor was fit for the role. "I started working on this story in 2013 and finished it before Raid (2018). Arjun called me after watching the trailer of Raid and I told him about this script. He read it and called me the same day saying he was excited to do it. For me, working with Arjun was instinctive. While writing this script and meeting the kind of officers etc who are involved, I saw how regular these people were. The officer could be the guy next door. They are discreet and don't boast about their achievements. I felt Arjun could see this and blend into the character,'' he said in an interview to Firstpost.

Gupta went on to say that he even informed Arjun that vanity vans won't be accessible at many places of shoot and there would be no scope for more than one retake. Raid director is happy that the actor joined in even after knowing these limitations of the project.
