Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has disclosed in his new autobiography "Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored" how he once met underworld don Dawood Ibrahim over tea.

The veteran actor recounted his encounter with the don in an interview with India TV. He also revealed how a man was “illegally” sent to Mumbai by the don with a condolence message after the death of Raj Kapoor, Rishi’s father.

Rishi Kapoor said he was once on a visit to Dubai in 1988 and as soon as he got out of the airport, he was handed over a phone by a man. The man told him to “talk to bhaI” and Kapoor took the phone thinking it was just a fan.

However, on the other side was the don.

Dawood, already a known criminal, invited him to tea that evening.

“That evening, Bittu and I were picked up from our hotel in a Rolls Royce. While we were being driven to his home, a conversation went on around us, in Kutchi. I don't understand Kutchi but my friend did, and he realized that we were being driven around in circles,” Rishi said in his conversation with India TV.

“Dawood greeted us warmly and apologetically explained, 'I called you to tea because I don't drink or serve alcohol," Kapoor recalled.

Rishi Kapoor revealed that Dawood, in the meeting, confessed that he had gotten many people killed but had not killed anyone personally.

Interestingly, Rishi Kapoor once played a character inspired by Dawood in 2013 film D-Day.

In the no-holds barred book, Rishi Kapoor has laid bare many aspects of his life including how he once bought an award.
