Swami Paripoornananda, the pontiff of Sreepeethan of Kakinanda, met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday. The 'special' meeting has now triggered talks of Paripoornananda being picked by the saffron party to spearhed its election campaign in Telangana.

Sources said Swami Paripoornananda also met BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath. While what transpired in the meeting is not known yet but insiders say 'future course' of action was decided in the meeting.

There are also strong rumours that the BJP would name Swami Paripoornananda as the party chief ministerial candidate in Telangana where Assembly election is scheduled to be held on December 7.

He may be asked to contest from Secunderabad, sources said. Media reports also claimed that the BJP may field Swami Paripoornananda from Hyderabad against AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

Swami Paripoornananda was externed in July from the Hyderabad for six months for allegedly making provocative statements.

The BJP had then reacted strongly to the ban order against the seer.

On July 9,  Paripoornananda was put under house arrest ahead of his 'Dharmagraha Yatra' (paadayatra), in protest against his statements in social and electronic media allegedly against Hindu deities.
