Rajasthan chief electoral officer to keep tab on paid news ahead of polls

The office of state chief electoral officer (CEO) will keep a close eye on paid news, fake news and advertisements influencing voters ahead of assembly election 2018, said an official on Tuesday.

CEO of Rajasthan Ashwani Bhagat said media certification and monitoring committees (MCMC) have been constituted in all districts of the state as per the directions and action plan of the chief election commission.

Bhagat said training related to media management, paid news, advertisement certification was given to the information and public relations officer and district-level nodal officers. Review of the preparation done by MCMC members will be done via video conferencing on August 28. 

Just a few months after the assembly elections, Lok Sabha elections 2019 will also take place to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.
