Congress in-charge of Uttar Pradesh East, Priyanka Gandhi today sparked massive speculation with regards to her fighting Lok Sabha election 2019. Urged by Congress workers to contest from Rae Bareli, Priyanka Gandhi asked, "Why not Varanasi?"

Priyanka Gandhi's remark was immediately picked by some section in media, who speculated PM Narendra Modi vs Priyanka Gandhi contest in Varanasi.

Priyanka's response was definitely a jovial response to highly motivated party workers who were actually urging her to contest from Rae Bareli, a seat currently held by her mother Sonia Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi was in Amethi on Thursday before reaching Rae Bareli. Priyanka today urged Congress supporters to work for the party in the upcoming elections as well as bringing Congress to power in Lucknow in 2022. Priyanka also said that the Congress Party, that fought in the freedom struggle, did not need any certificate in patriotism.

Earlier, there were posters in Amethi saying they were seen going to temples only during elections but not otherwise.

Priyanka Gandhi been regular on the campaign trail trying to drum up support for Congress Party.

The BJP has already announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be contesting from Varanasi.
