Sidhu stirs fresh controversy, compares PM Modi to 'a bride who only pretends to work'

The EC on Friday had issued a fresh show cause notice to Sidhu for violating the model code of conduct after he had allegedly passed disparaging remarks against PM Modi.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Punjab Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said Modi is like a bride who pretends to work. Talking to the media in Indore, Sidhu said, "Modi is like that bride who only pretends to work. 

"This is the only routine of the Modi government, he said.

(Modi Ji uss dulhan ki tarah hain jo roti kum baelti hai aur chudiyaan zada khankati hai taaki mohalle walon ko yeh pata chale ki woh kaam kar rahi hai. Bas yahi hua hai Modi sarkaar mein.)

Further slamming the prime minister, Sidhu said, "I call him Liar-in-Chief, Divider-in-Chief and Business Manager of Ambani and Adani." 

Adding up to his troubles, the Election Commission on Friday issued a fresh show cause notice to Navjot Singh Sidhu for violating the model code of conduct. Sidhu had allegedly passed disparaging remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The poll panel has given him a day to reply to the notice. 

The EC had received a complaint from the BJP that Sidhu, during a rally in Madhya Pradesh on April 29, had made disparaging comments about PM Modi.
