Amit Shah in Aap Ki Adalat: Contrary to perception, BJP will better its seat tally in Uttar Pradesh

Taking on Congress party's Nyunatam Aay Yojana (NYAY) announced by Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah said, “From last five generations, Congress party has been promising that it will remove poverty from the country, but it failed. People trust those who work. Citizens of the country are not the property of a single family.”  Congress party has called NYAY a "surgical strike on poverty."

BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the capability to take tough decisions and under him, the party will register a historic win in Lok Sabha elections 2019.

“PM Modi has the capability to take tough decisions. He has shown to the world that India will take its security very seriously,” Amit Shah said during  Aap Ki Adalat, hosted by India TV's Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma.

Asked to respond on Congress leader Kapil Sibal's statement that he has not seen the dead bodies of the terrorists killed in airstrikes across the LoC, Amit Shah said, “Kapil Sibal must go to Balakot to see the dead bodies of the terrorists. Security of the nation should be the main issue of the elections. Congress had done nothing during 26/11. We have zero tolerance towards terrorism.”

In reply to another question, the BJP president said, “Entire country is full of enthusiasm today. Whether you call it airstrikes or surgical strikes, our aim is the security of the country. We have to give a tough answer to terrorists. We don’t decide the time. Election or no election, it hardly matters.”

Amit Shah also praised PM Modi on the diplomatic front.

“It is PM Modi's good diplomacy that today Pakistan has been left alone in the world. Entire world supported the Balakot airstrike. We will not let our army personnel die. We have never initiated a fight. But when provoked, will give a tough reply,” Amit Shah said.

The BJP chief also highlighted that the PM Modi-led government was corruption free and confident of winning the elections.

“PM Modi is full of confidence. PM Modi is transparent. In the last five years, we have not done anything which will bring shame to our workers,” Shah said.

Saffron party president also clarified that Nirav Modi will be brought back to India. “Whether election or no election, Nirav Modi and others will have to come back to the country,” he said.

Talking about party’s condition in Uttar Pradesh, Shah said, “Let me tell you that we will win 74 seats in UP. In fact, we will win all the seats.” Shah stressed that politics in the country was moving beyond the caste system.

Talking about employment, he said, “Employment is a problem in the country but the one government which has addressed it properly, is the Modi government.”

Touching the topic of the grand alliance, BJP president said, “Why a grand alliance? It is fear against PM Modi which has led to the creation of grand alliance.”

“We say take the country forward, they say, remove Modi,” Shah concluded. Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be held in seven phases. The first phase of polling begins on April 11. The last phase of polling will be held on May 19. Results will be declared on May 23.
