Chhattisgarh: Ghanaram Sahu, state Congress vice-president resigns from membership of party

The state has in total 90 constituencies.

Ghanaram Sahu, Chhattisgarh Congress vice president has resigned from the membership of the party on Sunday. The decision has come just a day before polling. As per reports, he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Monday.

He was, reportedly, upset for not getting ticket from Gundardehi.

Polls to the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held in the two phases.

For the first phase, for 18 seats in South Chhattisgarh, polling will take place on Monday. For the second phase, for remaining 72 seats of North Chhattisgarh, polling will take place on 20th November. 

The state has in total 90 constituencies.

"Around 18,000 personnel have been deployed. Proper security is provided in 273 booths. Administration, police, paramilitary forces and state forces have been briefed about incidents that happened earlier and they have been also explained about do and don'ts," said A Pallav, SP Dantewada.
