New Delhi: Looking to boost its presence in the scooter segment, TVS Motor Company launched its new scooter TVS Jupiter.

It will carry a price tag of Rs 44,200 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), but prices will vary (in the range of Rs 1,500-Rs 3,000) depending on locations. Jupiter would come in four colours and the model is competitively priced and styled to enthuse the male customer.

Jupiter competes against the likes of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India's ‘Activa', HeroMotoCorp's ‘Maestro' and India Yamaha Motor's — Ray Z.

With the launch of Jupiter, the company is targeting to sell 50,000 scooters and scooty a month by the end of financial year.

At present, TVS Motor sells about 15,000 units of Wego and 21,000-22,000 units of Scooty every month. With Jupiter, it aims to clock 45,000 units a month by December.

TVS Motor, third largest player in the scooter segment, hopes to boost the market share to 16 per cent and above by the end of this financial year, from the current level of 12.4 per cent. In overall two-wheeler market share, the company aims 14 per cent. By the end of August, it had a market share of about 12 per cent.
