Mumbai, Dec 28: The BSE benchmark Sensex rose by over 96 points in early trade on Friday led by recovery in stocks of power, auto and oil and gas sectors on emergence of buying amid a firming trend in the Asian region.
At 10:56 am, the 30-share barometer rebounded by 86.63 points, or 0.45 per cent, after Thursday's losses, to 19410.43.
All the sectoral indices were trading in the positive territory with gains up to 0.86 per cent.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index, Nifty moved up by 31 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 5901.10.
In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.35 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei gained 0.71 per cent in early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.14 per cent lower in Thursday's trade.
