Scrooser: A motorized scooter from the future

New Delhi: The Scrooser, a cross between a child's scooter, a Segway, and a bike, is surprisingly cool. It looks like a standard, two-wheel kick scooter but actually has a motor built in and it can go about 15 miles per hour on a good day.The makers of the electric scooter describe its riding experience similar to ‘going surfing or snowboarding through the city.' The design of the Scrooser is quite unique and compact and lets the rider stand or sit. IT weighs only 61 pounds thanks to its aluminum body. It is packed with an engine (48 V; 1000 W; electrics 48 V; 20 Ah) which is a direct drive motor integrated into the rear wheel rim, which means that there are no gear belts, linkages or any other additional elements that could break.The batteries are under the footboard and the motor is in the rear wheel. It doesn't require a helmet or a licence to operate. Each time the rider kicks the ground, an impulse drive provides electric power support augmenting the amount of physical force the foot has pushed off the ground with. The eco-friendly mobility solution will run on one battery charge for 25 days! It features a sleek minimal design and weighs only 61 pounds thanks to its aluminum body. ‘You can ride it at 6mph, a perfect pace to manoeuvre through pedestrian-filled sidewalks, but feel free to race cyclists on bike paths at a maximum speed of up to 15mph,' its makers say.The system is also nearly maintenance free and very quiet. The entire frame of the Scrooser consists of two parts with each half formed from one piece by a process called 'free-form 3D bending'. The stability is generated through the short successive radii and a high-strength aluminium alloy. In total the frame weights around 6lbs. The German company behind the Scrooser hopes to soon produce the vehicle for the mass market.
