New Delhi, May 2: State-owned Coal India said its production in April stood at 35.75 million tonnes (MT).

The company's had set a production target of 35.15 MT for the last month, CIL said in a filing to BSE.

It said the company's offtake in April was at 39.8 MT against the target of 40.03 MT.

The Coal ministry has set a production target of 482 MT and off-take target of 492 MT for Coal India Ltd (CIL) for the current financial year.

The target was set in an MoU signed by the company's CMD S Narsing Rao and Coal Secretary S K Srivastava.

Coal India achieved an output of 452.5 MT in the last fiscal, missing the target of 464 MT.

The Coal Ministry had earlier said CIL would miss the production target for FY'13 by 2-3 MT. It had attributed the shortfall to workers strike and other issues.
