Hyundai Xcent launched in India at Rs 4.66 lakh

New Delhi: Hyundai has launched its Xcent compact sedan in India, with price starting at Rs 4.66 lakh ex-Delhi. While the petrol version is priced between Rs 4.66 lakh and Rs 6.47 lakh, the diesel variant is priced at Rs 5.56 lakh to Rs 7.38 lakh (all ex-showroom, New Delhi).The Hyundai Xcent is a sub 4-metre sedan based on the Grand i10 hatchback and replaces the Accent in the company's portfolio. The Xcent will be available in three trims — Base, S and SX. Bookings for the Hyundai Xcent have already started with deliveries expected to start soon.Hyundai Xcent has been given the same engines as the Grand i10. The car will be available in 1.1 litre advanced second generation U2 CRDi diesel and 1.2 litre Kappa dual VTVT petrol.The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol delivers 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 111.8Nm of torque with a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.1kmpl.The 1.1-litre U2 CRDi pumps out 72PS at 4000rpm and 180.4Nm between 1750 and 2500rpm with a mileage of 24.4kmpl.The company says the diesel engine comes with some improvements which results in 13 per cent more torque and better mileage.Both the engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission with the petrol getting the option of a 4-speed auto as well. The automatic delivers an ARAI approved fuel efficiency of 16.9kmpl.The Hyundai Xcent has a similar styling as of the Grand i10. It has the same grille and swept back headlamps and wrap-around tail lamps with chrome inserts as well as diamond cut alloy wheels and door handles with chrome highlights. The Xcent will come with five colour options such as black, blue, red, silver and blue.Some of the best features offered in Xcent include rear air-con vents, rear parking sensors, push-button start and USB-ready audio system with 1GB internal storage, but top variants will offer automatic climate control and a rear-view camera. Features exquisite to top-of-the-line trims include ABS, dual front airbags, steering mounted audio controls. The Xcent gets dual tone beige and black interiors which are a first in the segment, while the cooled glovebox is a nice touch.The new model also offers better legroom than the Grand i10 despite the fact that both the cars have the same wheelbase. There is also an arm rest. The boot space is also more in comparison to the hatchback.The compact sedan segment will compete against the likes of Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and Honda Amaze.
