New Delhi: The much-awaited Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone, which was launched last month at the MWC in Barcelona, has finally arrived in India. Hugo Barra, Vice President Xiaomi, today announced the India launch of the flagship phone at an event in the national capital.

However, Indian consumers looking forward to the phone will only be able to get their hands on the 32GB variant for now. The 32GB variant of the Mi 5 boasts a 3D glass body, and features a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.

Here are five key things that you need to know about the Xiaomi Mi 5:

Price: The Mi 5 is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 32GB variant and will go on sale starting April 6 on Mi.com. It will also be available on other e-commerce sites after a few weeks.

Design: The Xiaomi Mi 5 flaunts a 5.15-inch screen, full HD display, and a fingerprint scanner on the front. It will come in black, gold and white colour variants with a metal and glass design with 3D Glass. Mi 5 weighs 129 gm and is 7.25 mm thick. The company also claims that Mi 5 features a very vibrant display with 600-nit brightness, and is also 17 per cent more power efficient.

Specification: The smartphone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked with 1.3 Ghz in the starting model. It also is VoLTE compatible, and supports 4G+.  Mi 5 is also the first Xiaomi phone with UFS 2.0 for storage. On the software front, the phone runs on Android Marshmallow wrapped under MIUI 7.

Camera: It has a 16MP rear camera with 4-axis OIS, and the front camera is 4 MP with a wide-angle lens. The company claims that the new 4-axis OIS will be better for long shots, as well for low light and moving objects. During the MWC launch event Hugo Barra called it a “technology breakthrough”. It has a Sony IMX298 sensor, PDAF and DTI for pixel to pixel isolation, which also prevents colour-bleeding.

Battery, OS, Connectivity: The Mi 5 has a 3000mAh battery. The company claims that the fast charge on the phone allows it to give two and a half hours of talktime after charging for just 5 minutes. Xiaomi Mi 5 runs Android 6 with MIUI 7 on top.
