Further lessening the demonetisation woes, the Reserve Bank of India today raised the ATM withdrawal limit from Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000 per day.

“The limit on withdrawals from ATMs has been enhanced from the current limit of Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000 per day per card,” the RBI said in a notification.

However, no changes have been made in the current weekly withdrawal limit which is of Rs 24,000 per week.

“The changes in daily ATM withdrawal limit will be operative within the existing overall weekly limit,” the RBI informed.

It is only for the current account holders that the weekly limit on withdrawals has been increased to Rs 1 lakh per week from the current Rs 50,000.

“The limit on withdrawal from current accounts has been enhanced from the current limit of Rs 50,000 per week to Rs 1,00,000 per week and it extends to overdraft and cash credit accounts also,” RBI further stated.

The last enhancement in the daily cash withdrawal limit from the ATMs was made on the New Year’s day when RBI increased it from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,500 per day.
