KL Rahul to Rohit Sharma: Indian stars who might play for a different team in IPL 2025

KL Rahul failed to help Lucknow Super Giants qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024 and coupled with his form and questionable strike rate it looks like the franchise may not retain him ahead of the mega auction

Rohit Sharma might be in the twilight of his career and with Hardik Pandya taking over captaincy from him, it is unlikely that Mumbai Indians will retain him. Rohit will turn 38 in 2025 and some other team might be keen to get the Indian captain for a couple of years

Shikhar Dhawan, one of the legends of the IPL, may have played his last season in the tournament. Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury in the middle of the tournament, but it is unsure if he is still injured and Punjab Kings might have moved on from him

Bhuvneshwar Kumar might be probably the odd one out in the list as he has been in terrific form in IPL 2024, doing the job extremely well for Sunrisers Hyderabad with both the new ball and at the death. However, in the last cycle too, Bhuvi wasn't retained by SRH and ahead of a mega auction the Orange Army could go with a younger bunch

R Ashwin, the veteran Indian spinner too hasn't been in the best of forms in IPL 2024. In a couple of games, his final over has proven to be the difference and apart from a handful of them, the wickets column is also dry. Rajasthan Royals might look in a different direction next year

Ishan Kishan, bought at a hefty sum of INR 15.25 crore, too might not be retained by the Mumbai Indians as he has been too erratic with his form. Kishan has 306 runs to his name at a strike rate of 153 but the average is even less than 25

Another hit-and-miss player, Deepak Hooda has been in and out of the Lucknow Super Giants for no fault of his, hasn't gotten a consistent run at a certain position and might not be on the franchise's first retention list
