Till date, these countries have done soft landings on the Moon

Chandrayaan-3 is a lander mission. In such a mission, a soft landing of a spacecraft is made on the surface of a planet.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is India's third moon mission and second attempt at soft landing on the lunar surface.

Lander missions are the toughest. The world's first lander mission failed 11 times in a row.

So far more than 10 countries have made efforts for Moon Lander mission.

The first soft landing on the Moon was done on January 31, 1966 by the Luna-9 spacecraft of the erstwhile USSR.

After this, on May 30, 1966, America's NASA did a soft landing on the moon.

China is the third country to have made a soft landing on the lunar surface on 23 November 2020.

Now if the Chandrayaan-3 mission becomes successful, India will be the fourth country to make a soft landing on the moon.

Japan, Luxembourg, Israel, Italy, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates have also attempted lander missions.
