Heart attack and cardiac arrest differences you should know

The terms heart attack and cardiac arrest are often used interchangeably but they are not the same.

A heart attack is a result of 'circulation' problem while a cardiac arrest is an 'electrical' problem.

When the coronary arteries become blocked, a heart attack takes place. The heart doest not get enough blood and oxygen in this case.

A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops pumping blood and breathing normally.

Usually, a heart attack leads to cardiac arrest but it may not immediately cause it.

Both cardiac arrest and heart attack are emergency situations and should be treated immediately.
