A PCS officer can only serve their state, while an IAS can serve in any state on deputation.

Both officers receive salary under the seventh pay commission.

The salaries of both officers are determined by the respective recruitment authorities. An IAS officer's salary ranges from Rs 56,100 to Rs 2.5 lakh per month. On the other hand, PCS officers receive salaries according to the pay scale of the state government, which varies from state to state.
