Nirbhaya's lawyer thanks President for rejecting mercy plea of convict Mukesh Singh

Lawyer of Nirbhaya's parents, Seema Kushwaha, on January 17 thanked President Ram Nath Kovind for rejecting the mercy plea of one of the convicts in the heinous rape case. She said, "This is very good news for us, we are going to argue on Patiala Court on stopping the other three convicts on filing mercy plea as they have already given seven days time earlier to file the mercy plea, so that the death sentence will be executed on coming 22 Jan." She also said that hanging Nirbhaya's culprits will also impact other rape cases in the country. The President rejected the mercy plea of Mukesh Singh, one of the four men facing the gallows in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case.
