Uttar Pradesh: The roof of the cold storage building collapses when workers were doing their routine jobs. The witnesses said many of the workers were buried under the debris.

One person died and 8-10 people got injured after a roof of a cold storage building on Thursday collapsed in Chandausi, Sambhal, a senior official said. Some people are feared trapped under the rubble after the roof, he added.

Relief teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations are being carried out by the administration.

"10-15 people are buried under debris, 2 people rescued. A team of SDRF is on its way to the incident spot. The police force has been deployed on the spot," DM Sambhal said.

SDM Chandausi, Ramkesh Dhama, said the roof of AR cold storage on Islam Nagar Road in Mai village has collapsed and there is a possibility of some people being trapped under the debris.

The administration is engaged in the rescue operations, he added.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the officials to carry out immediate relief and rescue work.

"In view of the accident in the cold storage in Chandausi district of Sambhal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district administration officials, SDRF and NDRF teams to conduct immediate relief and rescue work by reaching the spot," the CM Office tweeted.
