Lucknow court firing: In the latest revelation in the Lucknow court firing which took place on Wednesday, at least six bullets were fired at gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari's aide Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva, reveals post-mortem report. The alleged assailant, identified as Vijay Yadav (24), a resident of Jaunpur district, who was dressed as a lawyer, was caught on the spot after the shooting took place right outside a courtroom at around 4 pm, police said.
According to sources, Sanjeev Jeeva was killed due to gangwar and over the war of supremacy in the world of crime. Police are suspecting the involvement of gangster Sunil Rathi, who has a history of animosity with Jeeva. Sunil Rathi is also accused of killing gangster-politician Munna Bajrangi in jail. Sanjeev Jeeva was said to be close to Munna Bajrangi. Since the murder of Munna Bajrangi, the feud between the two had reached its peak.
"As per the post-mortem report of gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva, 16 bullet entry and exit points in the body show that 8 bullets were fired. 6 bullets hit his chest and 2 hit his hand and he was brought dead to Balrampur Hospital," King George's Medical University, Lucknow said.
Alleged accused, Vijay Yadav, is said to have come in contact with Sunil Rathi gang 3 months ago in Mumbai, sources added. Police said that Vijay Yadav was missing from home for the past month. At this time, Yadav may have receed the court premises and planned the murder. Yadav is currently admitted to the trauma centre. In such a situation, the police will file an application for the custody of the shooter and if the court agrees then arrangements will be made to present him.
A policeman and a two-year-old girl were injured in the incident. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the formation of a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.
The assailant opened fire when Jeeva (48), who was serving a life term in a Lucknow jail, was brought to the court for hearing in a case, police officials said.
A resident of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, Jeeva is an accused in the murder cases of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Krishnanand Rai and former state minister Brahm Dutta Dwivedi as well as in 22 other cases, including those of fraud and criminal conspiracy.
