Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has lashed out at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi over his decision to contest Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Tikat, who is spearheading farmers' agitation against the Modi government at Delhi borders, sought claim that Owaisi is hand in glove with the BJP and called him the saffron party's "chacha jaan".

The arrested persons were tasked separately to execute different aspects of the terror plan. The underworld operative Sameer, a close contact of Anees Ibrahim, was tasked by a Pak-based person connected with underworld operatives hiding in Pakistan, to ensure the smooth delivery of IEDs, sophisticated weapons and grenades to different entities in India, police said. The police also said that these terrorists were divided into two groups which was being coordinated by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees Ibrahim.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said views of party workers will be given due consideration while deciding on the issues to be raised ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls next year. Exhorting the workers to start preparations for the assembly polls, Gandhi said their views regarding strengthening the Congress will be heard and their inputs will be considered while setting the party manifesto. She was addressing the party training programmes at Sultanpur and Allahabad districts through video conferencing.
