Janata Dal-United president Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister for a fourth straight term on Monday, November 16, at a ceremony which was attended by top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. Along with Nitish Kumar, BJP leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also took oaths. They are expected to serve as his deputies.
Nitish Kumar was administered the oath of office at Raj Bhavan by Governor Phagu Chauhan, a day after he staked claim for the formation of a new government in the state, armed with unanimous support of all legislators of the NDA despite his partys plummeted tally.

JD(U) president Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister for a fourth straight term today at a ceremony which was attended by top BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. Along with Nitish Kumar, BJP leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also took oaths. They are expected to serve as his deputies. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising the BJP-JDU will take charge in Bihar from today.
Tarkishore comes from the Kalwar caste which is a part of the Vaishya community. He is known to be close to Sushil Kumar. He successfully contested the Katihar Assembly seat in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections.
Tarkishore Prasad elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in Bihar, informed Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday. In an exclusive interview with India TV, Prasad refrained to comment on the appointment of the next Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. He said, "The leadership has not clarified who will be the Deputy Chief Minister. Therefore, I would like not to comment on the same."
Tarkishore Prasad has been unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party in Bihar, party leader Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday.
"I have been given this responsibility and I'll carry out the duty to the best of my ability," said Tarkishore Prasad after being elected as leader of BJP legislature party in Bihar.
"I can't comment on it as of now," says Tarkishore Prasad when asked about the post of Deputy CM in Bihar.
