Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to double the number of Sainik schools in the state.
The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for the launching of affiliated Sainik Schools under Sainik Schools Society, the Defence Ministry informed on Tuesday.
President Kovind will inaugurate a 1,000-seater auditorium named after Sampurnanand, a scholar of Sanskrit and Hindi, and founder of the Sainik School in 1960
Sainik Schools are established under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence to prepare students mentally and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA).
Emphasising on the need for at least one Sainik School each in the Malwa, Doaba and Majha regions, the three natural geographical divisions of the state, CM Amarinder Singh said it was felt that a third Sainik School in Bathinda will suitably cater to this requirement
