Farmers protest: Baldev Singh Sirsa identified the dead farmer as Subhkaran Singh (21), a resident of Baloke village in Punjab's Bathinda district. Patiala-based Rajindra Hospital's medical superintendent HS Rekhi told reporters that three people, one of them dead, were brought to the hospital.
The farmers from Punjab began their march to Delhi but were stopped by security personnel at Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjab's border with Haryana. The protesters have stayed put at the two border points since then.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said they held a meeting with the district administration twice on Monday night but the talks did not yield any outcome.
India's number one and the most followed Super Prime Time News Show ‘Aaj Ki Baat- Rajat Sharma Ke Saath' was launched just before the 2014 general elections. Since its inception, the show is redefining India’s super-prime time and is numerically far ahead of its contemporaries.
Wrestlers protest: The representatives of various khaps and farmers' outfits reached the Jat Dharamshala from different places, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for supporting wrestlers in large number.
The Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, is currently on winter break and will resume on January 3.
Terming the move as 'dictatorial', Tikait claimed that the aim of the decision was to restrain farmers from reaching 'dharna' sites.
Ajay Mishra Teni controversial statement: Mishra's statement was in response to Tikait's 72-hour-long protest at Lakhimpur Kheri demanding his removal from Modi cabinet.
Rakesh Tikait, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and a prominent face of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), was detained as the Delhi police was trying to prevent "undue gathering" in the national capital.
Farmers' protest: At the dharna venue, women activists from the Kisan Sangarsh Samiti from neighboring Sitapur recited poems highlighting farmers' struggles.
Following the ink attack, Rakesh Tikait today alleged security was not provided by the local police for the event in Bengaluru.
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted by the Allahabad High Court to Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra, in the case and asked him to surrender within a week.
Tikait also added that the farmer umbrella body Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will back every Chief Minister who fights for the farmers' issues.
A police team on Monday visited the house of Rakesh Tikait and recorded his statement after he lodged a complaint wherein he claimed to receive a call threatening to kill him.
“In the great festival of democracy, the decision of the people is paramount. The farmers' movement showed its effect. We hope that all the governments that have been formed will work for to uplift farmers and labourers in their respective states. Congratulations to all on the victory,” Tikait tweeted in Hindi.
Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, is a key accused in the case and the Allahabad High Court granted him bail on February 10.
UP Election 2022: The national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), which is a part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), said those talking on communal lines will not witness electoral gains in the region.
Earlier in December last year, the SKM had announced the suspension of their year-long agitation after they received a letter from the Central government, with promises of forming a committee on MSP.
While discussing the issues of farmers in Western UP, and how they play a crucial role in the polls, Tikait's fury raged up. He abruptly alleged that the camera and the pen are guarded by a gun.
