Rajnath Singh is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party who currently serves as the Home Minister of India. He previously served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a Cabinet Minister in the Vajpayee Government. He has also served as the President of the BJP twice, 2005 to 2009 and 2013 to 2014. He began his career as a physics lecturer and used his long-term association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to become involved with the Janata Party. DND Flyway which connects Delhi and Noida was inaugurated by him in 2001. Rajnath Singh was appointed as the Secretary of Bhartiya Jana Sangh for the Mirzapur unit in Uttar Pradesh in 1974. In May 2014, he was elected M.P from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. On 26th May, 2014, Singh became Union Minister for Home Affairs in the Government of India. For Lok Sabha Election 2019, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had filed his nomination from the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, where he won with a margin of 3,45,023 votes against Samajwadi Party’s Poonam Sinha.
