The deceased man, identified as Babar, was allegedly lynched by his neighbours for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and distributing sweets after the party's poll victory in Uttar Pradesh.
Kushinagar Assembly constituency falls under the Kushi Nagar Lok sabha constituency. Kushinagar went to polls during the sixth phase of assembly elections on March 3, 2022.
At least 10 people were also injured in the incident at the village under the Nebua Naurangiya police station area, the police said.
