David Warner has addressed a burning question which involves former head coach Justin Langer and Cricket Australia
Finally, Justin Langer has broken his silence over his fallout with Cricket Australia and the men's cricket team. Langer has made some revelations and has stressed how people in the dressing room misunderstood him.
Veteran Australian player and former coach of the national team, Justin Langer, has come out all guns blazing, slammed the Australian Cricket Board.
The Australian Test skipper also said that all the support staff and players gave feedback on Langer, and in the end, it is about Cummins standing tall with his players.
Cricket Australia on Saturday accepted men's team head coach Justin Langer's resignation.
Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum has termed the current England Test side, which toured Australia for the Ashes, as 'hopeless'.
Cummins received flak for not backing the former coach in the lead-up to Langer's resignation.
Gillespie's name was being floated as a potential replacement for Darren Lehmann when the latter stood down as coach in the wake of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal.
The legendary wicket-keeper said the corporate-speak by CA is just 'covering up that the players and certain support staff around the team have spoken and they no longer want Justin there.'
Former Australia pacer Mitchell Johnson labelled Cummins as 'gutless' and said the Test skipper has an agenda to bring his own coach
In the e-mail, as reported by The Australian newspaper, Langer also said that he was proud of what he had achieved as Australia coach, but if senior players, some support staff and the board did not support him, he felt it was necessary to walk away from the job.
Langer resigned from his post on Saturday, unhappy with the short-term contract extension offered by Cricket Australia after a marathon seven-hour board meeting.
The announcement was made in a statement from Langer’s management company DSEG while Langer was flying from Melbourne to his hometown of Perth.
Langer, under whose tutelage Australia hammered England in the Ashes and also won the T20 World Cup for the first time last year, has been in service for the past four years.
Langer, whose contract is due to end in June, guided Australia to its maiden T20 World Cup title last year and a dominant 4-0 Ashes victory recently.
"Australian cricket coach Justin Langer secretly knocked back a six figure sum in bonuses because he felt it would be morally inappropriate amid Covid job cuts," eminent cricket writers Robert Craddock and Peter Lalor reported for an Australian newspaper.
Langer reportedly does not enjoy a great rapport with the players, and Cricket Australia (CA) might be having second thoughts about renewing his contract after June.
Thompson and Langer become the 58th and 59th inductees respectively, since the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame was established in 1996.
Langer was appointed head coach in the aftermath of the ball-tampering scandal in 2018 to overhaul the team's culture and regain the respect of the Australian public. His contract is due to end in June.
Langer had faced criticism for his coaching methods from the players but now has a Twenty20 World Cup in his CV and is also close to adding the coveted Ashes Trophy win to it.
