The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released its latest weather bulletin, indicating a variety of extreme weather patterns across India. Delhi and its neighboring regions are poised for a warm day, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius, accompanied by cloudy skies and a chance of drizzle.
Weather update: Hot, humid weather is very likely to prevail over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Karaikal, from April 2 to April 6, over Telangana, South Interior Karnataka from April 2 to April 4 and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema.
Delhi fog: The air quality in several parts of Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category today, as per Central Pollution Control Board data. According to data, AQI was recorded at 379 in RK Puram on Thursday morning, 312 in Lodhi Road, 377 ITO area and 387 in the IGI Airport area.
Uttar Pradesh weather: According to the IMD, a cold day or severe cold day is considered based on two parameters: a minimum temperature of under 10 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature that is 4.5 degrees Celsius or 6.4 degrees below normal, respectively.
Northern India did not witness any respite from the cold wave conditions as the region, including Delhi-NCR, woke up to dense fog on Thursday.
Tamil Nadu rain update: Water levels rising above four feet in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli have turned bus termini into large swimming pools, affecting parked vehicles. Despite a temporary respite in some areas, dam water releases contribute to persistent waterlogging.
Tamil Nadu weather: As per IMD prediction, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai and Thanjavur districts of Tamil Nadu on December 18.
Weather update: The IMD also predicted that below-normal cold wave days are expected over most parts of northwest, central, east, and northeast India during the winter season.
Cyclone Michaung: 12 Madras Unit of the Indian Army rescued people from Mugalivakkam and Manapakkam areas in Chennai that were affected by heavy rainfall and massive waterlogging. Chennai's popular Marina Beach was flooded due to heavy downpours.
Cyclone Tej: The storm is brewing in the Arabian Sea at 1850 km southwest of Karachi, ARY News reported. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea has developed into a depression and lies at a distance of 1850 km southwest of Karachi, Pakistan.
Kerala weather: Thiruvananthapuram district collector Geromic George said that necessary instructions have been given for the aid of people living in rain-affected areas and relief activities are underway.
Kerala weather: IMD predicted thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds at one or two places in the Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts of Kerala.
Kerala weather: The official statement from the Met Department also forecasted light to heavy rainfall over Konkan-Goa and Madhya Maharashtra from September 29 to October 1.
The southwest monsoon makes its onset over Kerala by June 1 and covers the entire country by July 8. It starts retreating from northwest India around September 17, withdrawing entirely by October 15.
The heavy rainfall in various parts of Gujarat has led to a situation resembling flooding in low-lying areas. Rivers like Narmada and others are flowing at full capacity, causing several villages to become inaccessible. As a result, hundreds of people have been relocated to safer locations.
Madhya Pradesh rains: A team of police personnel reached the spot and all three of them were rescued with the help of locals.
Delhi rains: The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall in Delhi over the next five days.
Heavy rainfall has resulted in extensive waterlogging across different regions of the state. Individuals have been advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Maharashtra weather update: IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts for Saturday.
