At 4 pm, the air quality index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded at 429. Delhi's suburbs, Ghaziabad (467), Noida (434), Greater Noida (423), Faridabad (410) and Gurgaon (395), also breathed extremely polluted air on Thursday.
According to the MeT department, the humidity level recorded at 8.30 am was 83 per cent.
Delhiites woke up to a humid morning on Friday with the minimum temperature settling at 26.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average. They are expected to get some relief from the scorching heat as monsoon is expected to arrive in the national capital in the next 24 hours.
"The minimum temperature at 8.30 am was 27.8 degrees Celsius while the humidity level was 72 per cent," a MeT official said.
