The 'Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP): Insurance Scheme for Health Care Workers Fighting COVID-19' was launched on March 30 last year to provide comprehensive personal accident cover of Rs. 50 lakh to 22.12 lakh health care providers, including community health workers and private health workers, who are in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients.
Interacting with healthcare workers and vaccine beneficiaries from Goa, PM Modi also hailed the leadership of state Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for 100 per cent vaccination of the adult population in the state.
In a high-level meeting chaired by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, low vaccination coverage was highlighted and states were also informed about the modifications of the CoWIN platform to make it more effective.
The vaccine is to be administered in Delhi on four scheduled days of the week -- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It will not be given on Sunday and two other days of the week when other regular vaccination work will be carried out.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has said that at least 99 doctors have succumbed to coronavirus in India while over 1,300 have been infected by COVID-19. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in terms of the percentage of doctors who died after getting infected to coronavirus.
