Acceding to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's demand, IT giant Google has removed the secessionist, anti-India mobile application '2020 Sikh Referendum' from its Play Store, state officials said on Tuesday.
Google has partnered with mobile security companies ESET, Lookout and Zimperium to check malicious apps on Google Play Store.
These infected apps would receive commands from the control server to load advertisements, open website in the background and change device settings to subscribe users to expensive subscriptions services, without users' consent.
