One person died in a fire that broke out in a building in Delhi's Shahdara area on Friday.
A shop fire in Badarpur, southeast Delhi, triggered a swift response from the Delhi Fire Services, deploying seven fire tenders to control the situation. No casualties were reported, even as cooking gas cylinders exploded within the shop.
The Delhi Fire Service received more than 200 calls amid the Diwali celebrations on Sunday. Despite the ban, various parts of the national capital witnessed significant bursting of firecrackers.
Delhi fire: Directions have been issued to the zonal building department to open their office on Thursday, and to conduct a survey of PGs in all wards of the Civil Lines Zone of the MCD, an official said.

Gandhi Nagar fire: "The fire was declared of a medium category. A total of 28 fire tenders are engaged. Fire is now under control and confined to the top floors," said Deputy Chief Fire Officer SK Dua.
Delhi fire news: The incident is reported to have taken place at around 1:03 am at Vishal enclave, near HDFC Bank in the Rajouri Garden area.
One staff member has been declared dead, who was earlier found unconscious inside the banquet hall. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
The owner of the building has been identified as Manish Lakra who lived on the top floor. Lakra is currently absconding.
On the special request of Haryana, the Delhi fire service also sent its firefighters for the operation to put off the fire.

As compared to previous years, there has been a slight fall in accident cases of fire triggered by burning of crackers. According to data, while 271 fire incidents were registered in 2018, it came down to 205 last year. In 2019, there were 245 cases.
Making the announcement at a function to mark the 75th Independence Day, he said that the AIIMS has joined hands with the Delhi Fire Service for the purpose.
