Huge gathering was seen at Ludhiana-Ferozepur Highway following the 'chakka jam' called by farmers on February 06. The gathering was seen having Langar at the site. However, the COVID-19 norms went for a toss during Langar. The 'chakka jam' was held from 12 to 3 pm today blocking the national and state highways across the country.
The three-hour-long nationwide 'chakka jam' by protesting farmers was held on Saturday amid tight security, even as there was no such event in the national capital which was turned into a fortress with heavy security deployment by the Delhi Police, paramilitary and reserve forces personnel to prevent any untoward situation. The Delhi Police had also used drone cameras to keep a tight vigil at protest sites. Although, the impact of chakka jam was seen in other parts of the country including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab and other places.
Around 50,000 personnel of Delhi Police, Paramilitary and Reserve Forces have been deployed in Delhi-NCR region to maintain law and order situation in Delhi on Saturday, amid 'chakka jaam' call by the protesting farmers' representatives. At least 12 metro stations have also been put on alert, police said.
