Over 4,500 students from Assam wrote to Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana on Tuesday seeking cancellation of state board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 due to the risks posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The state government earlier cancelled the intermediate, class 12 exam, and the students will be evaluated on the basis of pre-determined objective criteria
A CBSE constituted panel is yet to submit its recommendations for the criteria to evaluate class 12 students whose exams have been cancelled in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to sources.
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) will not announce the merit lists of the classes 10, 12 exams this year.

Several students across Assam are demanding the cancellation of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students cited the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 board exams as a strong ground to back their demand.

The Jharkhand government on Thursday announced the cancellation of Class 10 and 12 board exams, conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council, in the wake of the COVID-19 situation.
The result will be announced on the basis of first-year intermediate marks, Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said.
As per the announcement, the results will be declared based on the marks obtained by the students in mid-term exams. The result will be made available on June 22.
"It is for your kind information that Assam Higher Secondary Education Council is going to conduct Higher Secondary Final Examinations, in the month of July/August, 2021," AHSEC Exam Controller said
The students from classes 1 to 8, 9 and 11 will now be promoted to the next class
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the decision on conducting the exam will be taken in next 10 days. The board exam was earlier scheduled to be held from May 11, but has been postponed

The West Bengal government on Monday announced cancellation of Class 10, Class 12 board examinations in the state.
Amid demands for cancellation, the West Bengal government has formed an expert committee to recommend whether state board examinations for secondary and higher secondary classes should be conducted.
TN HSC +2 Exams 2021: The Tamil Nadu government has cancelled the Class 12 board examinations or TN HSC +2 exams 2021 and said a committee would be set up to decide on awarding marks to students.
HPBOSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) would devise a formula for calculating the awards keeping in view the formula being devised by the CBSE and will declare the results accordingly.
The students who want to appear in the exam will be an option to take the on-demand examination later when the situation becomes conducive. The marks ontained by the learner in such examination shall however be taken as final for those learners opting to appear in the said examination.
The exam will now be held from June 21. Both the High School and Higher Secondary exam will be held in 'exam from home' pattern. As per the direction, the students would be allowed to collect question papers from specified centres, take them home and submit the answer copies within five days
