In Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, the festival of colors start seven days before the celebration. Tourists and devotees of Lord Krishana celebrated 'Lathmar Holi' with lots of colors in Uttar Pradesh's Barsana on March 24. On this day, women in traditional dress beat men with wooden sticks. Men convey a safeguard to secure themselves while women beat them with sticks. According to Hindu mythology, Radha had beaten Lord Krishna with a stick after he and his companions appeared at her place soaked in colors. This year Holi will be celebrated on March 29 and Holika Dahan will be held on March 28.
As Holi is around the corner, Uttar Pradesh's Mathura is all set to host tourists from across the world.
This place is located at a distance of Radha Rani Temple in Barsana town of Mathura district. There is a belief about this place that once Radha Rani wished to see peacock dance, she came to this place named Gahabar Van.
