Along with foodgrains, demand for edible oil, milk and milk products, meat, egg, fish, vegetables, fruits and sugar will increase significantly. In comparison, natural resources are limited and there is also challenge of climate change.
About the digital agriculture mission, Tomar stated that farmers' database "is our wealth" and will usher in focused programme delivery, reduce seepages, ensure better policy formulation and smart farming in the country."
Tomar noted that under the 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi', so far Rs 1,57,000 cr have been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 11 cr farmers of the country.
