Google launches premium domain costing as high as Rs 1 crore: Know the details

Google has introduced a new domain ending with 'ing' which will enable users to create single-word websites. The domain is available at a very high cost, for specific english words which are ending with ing.

Google has launched a new domain to make websites more fun. The new domains now allow users to create single-word websites with 'ing.' From mak.ing to draw.ing (Canva has already taken it), users can now play with really cool domains to make their websites stand out and easy to find.

According to Google's official blog post, users can now register .ing domains during Google's early access period, but they will have to pay an extra one-time fee. This fee will decrease daily until December 5th, at which point .ing domains will be publicly available at 16:00 UTC (noon ET).

"This top-level domain is ready for whatever you're interested in, whether it's mak.ing a fun website, giv.ing to a good cause, design.ing something beautiful or edit.ing an existing document. If you're go.ing on an adventure, ink.ing a tattoo, enjoying a dumpl.ing or adapt.ing to something new, .ing is ready for action. So who's already on .ing?,"said Christina Yeh in Google's official blog.

Domain ending with ing: Current pricing 

Early access of the domains are as high as Rs 1 crore. Some popular words with -ing endings are currently available at very expensive cost. For example, think.ing and buy.ing cost Rs 32,49,999 and 1,08,33,332.50 per yea to register, respectively. Other words like kin.ing are available for Rs 16,249.17 per year. Dye.ing is available for Rs 3,24,999 year.

Google has recently added a new premium domain which enables users to create a single-word website with 'ing.' The news surfaced when we witnessed mak.ing to draw.ing- a website name which was already taken by Canva. With the new development, it is expected that the users will be able to play with flexible domains which will make the website look different and could be discovered easily.

As per Google's official blog post, users can now register to ‘.ing’ domains during. The offer is valid for users with Google's early access period, but the only condition is that they will have to pay an extra one-time fee to the tech giant. This fee will decrease every day till December 5 (2023), after which the ‘.ing’ domains will be made publicly available at 16:00 UTC (9:30 PM IST).

In an official Google blog, Christina Yeh said, "This top-level domain is ready for whatever you're interested in, whether it's mak.ing a fun website, giv.ing to a good cause, design.ing something beautiful or edit.ing an existing document. If you're go.ing on an adventure, ink.ing a tattoo, enjoying a dumpl.ing or adapt.ing to something new, .ing is ready for action. So who's already on .ing?,"

Early access to domain: Benefits and drawbacks

The cost of the early access for teh domains are really high- around Rs 1 crore. There are some of the words in english which ends with ‘ing’ and are available at a very high cost. For instance, the domain naming ‘think.ing’ and ‘buy.ing’ has been priced at Rs 32,49,999 and 1,08,33,332.50 per year respectively to register. On the other hand, words like ‘kin.ing’ are available for as high as Rs 16,249.17 for a year. The word ‘dye.ing’ is available for Rs 3,24,999 per year.

When the domains are touching the sky on the price front, there are a few domains, which are available at a reasonable price tag.

By the time you read this, most of the interesting domain, specially english words ending with ‘ing’ will be already taken. As mentioned earlier, Canva has taken the design.ing and draw.ing. Also,  Adobe Acrobat has bought the ‘edit.ing’ and ‘sign.ing’.
