Qualcomm launches new mid-range processors, Snapdragon 730, 730G 8nm and Snapdragon 665 11nm

Qualcomm announces three chipsets for high-end and mid-range devices with faster graphics, more power-efficient cores for improved AI, camera, gaming and overall performance.

Qualcomm launches new mid-range processors, Snapdragon 730, 730G 8nm and Snapdragon 665 11nm

Qualcomm, the smartphone chipmaker has finally announced three new chipsets under the 7 and 6 series namely Snapdragon 730, 730G and 665. All three were launched at the annual AI Day conference in San Francisco. The new processors come with faster graphics, more power efficiency that delivers improved AI, camera and gaming performance.

Snapdragon 730G specifications

The Snapdragon 730G comes with up to 15 per cent faster graphics compared to Snapdragon 730 and comes with 25 per cent faster graphics, compared to Snapdragon 710 and features an overclocked Adreno 618 GPU. The in-house game studio of Qualcomm Technologies’ has collaborated with popular game makers to play the world’s top-rated games. It gets true HDR gaming with rich graphics and cinema-quality processing along with Wi-Fi latency manager that manages network settings and Wi-Fi configurations. Other improvements include a camera, with support for Cinemagraph, low power voice activation and HD super slow-mo at 960fps.

Snapdragon 730 specifications

The Snapdragon 730 comes with Octa-Core Dual 2.2GHz Kryo 470+Hexa 1.8GHz Kryo 470 CPU with 8nm process technology, backed with 8GB memory and Adreno 618 GPU. It comes with Qualcomm Hexagon 688 DSP, Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology and Neural Processing SDK. It comes with 2x the AI power of its predecessor that helps the chipset improve on gaming, camera, voice and security performance.

The Snapdragon 730 CPU comes with Qualcomm Spectra 350 chip that comes with dedicated Computer Vision (CV) ISP that offers 4x overall power savings compared to the previous version. The chip can also support triple cameras that feature portrait, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses.

Snapdragon 665 specifications

The Snapdragon 665 is the third chip that comes with 11-nanometer based Snapdragon 665 SoC that comes with Kryo 260 cores as opposed to newer Kryo 360 cores. The camera can support three rear cameras at the back that can support up to the 48MP sensor resolution. Other features include a 610 GPU that offers up to 20 per cent power savings and brings Vulkan 1.1 capabilities. Other feature includes improved AI processing.

All three chips are expected to launch in products by mid-2019.
