Tokyo, Feb 25: Strikers Mike Havenaar and Tadanari Lee have been named to Japan's squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan.


Lee, who plays for English League Championship side Southampton, and Havenaar of Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, were among 10 Europe-based players named to the squad on Saturday by Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni.

Japan and Uzbekistan can afford to experiment with their teams, as both teams have already secured places in the final round of qualifiers for Brazil 2014.

Shinji Kagawa, who is back training after suffering an ankle injury, could be added to the squad if he is involved in Borussia Dortmund's home game against Hannover in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Other Europe-based call-ups include defenders Yuto Nagatomo of Inter Milan, Atsuto Uchida of Schalke and VVV Venlo's Maya Yoshida.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Eiji Kawashima (Lierse), Kaito Yamamoto (Shimizu S-Pulse), Shusaku Nishikawa (Sanfrecce Hiroshima).

Defenders: Yuichi Komano (Jubilo Iwata), Yasuyuki Konno (Gamba Osaka), Yuzo Kurihara (Yokohama F Marinos), Masahiko Inoha (Vissel Kobe), Yuto Nagatomo (Inter Milan), Tomoaki Makino (Urawa Reds), Atsuto Uchida (Schalke), Maya Yoshida (VVV Venlo).

Midfielders: Yasuhito Endo (Gamba Osaka), Kengo Nakamura (Kawasaki Frontale), Makoto Hasebe (Wolfsburg), Chikashi Masuda (Kashima Antlers), Hajime Hosogai (Augsburg) Yosuke Kashiwagi (Urawa Reds).

Forwards: Jungo Fujimoto (Nagoya Grampus), Tadanari Lee (Southampton), Shinji Okazaki (Stuttgart), Mike Havenaar (Vitesse Arnhem), Takashi Inui (Bochum), Ryo Miyaichi (Bolton Wanderers).
