Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa renewed his contract with the national side on Monday (2nd August) signing a deal that will keep him in charge until 2015.
Under the deal Bielsa will be responsible for the Under 20s, and will be on the bench for the senior side in the Copa America next year, qualifying for the 2014 Brazil Word Cup and the Copa America the year after that.
Bielsa renewed his contract, signing a deal to manage the Roja until 2015. The Argentine coach met with federation president Harold Mayne-Nicholls in the morning, where a deal in principle was agreed to keep Marcelo Bielsa in Chile for five more years.
Under the new agreement Bielsa will also be responsible for the Under 20s, and will be on the bench for the senior side in the Copa America next year, qualifying for the 2014 Brazil Word Cup and the Copa America that would follow the year after.
Bielsa will also have a clause which allows him to terminate the agreement if Mayne-Nicholls is not re-elected as president in elections next year, in order to prevent a conflict of interest with whoever may assume leadership of the ANFP(Professional National Football Association). AP
