T20 World Cup 2022: South African batter Rilee Rossouw has scaled a mammoth feat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. The Proteas star has become the first player from full-member cricketing nations to smash two consecutive tons in the T20I format. The left-handed batter Rossouw has hit the first ton in the T20 World Cup 2022 in a Super 12 match against Bangladesh. Rossouw had earlier smashed a ton against India in the 3rd T20I in Indore. Before Rossouw, France's batter Gustav McKeon became the first player to smash consecutive tons in T20I cricket.

The 33-year-old Proteas batter played a blistering knock of 109 off 56 balls as South Africa scored a mammoth 205/5 against Bangladesh on Thursday.  Rossouw notched up his ton in 52 balls and registered the fourth-fastest hundred in T20 World Cup history. Currently, West Indies star Chris Gayle has the record for the fastest and second-fastest tons in T20 World Cup. Gayle smashed a century in 47 balls in the 2016 T20 World Cup, while he notched up a ton in 50 balls in the inaugural edition of the tournament. The third fastest ton in the T20 World Cup belongs to Brendon McCullum as he hit a ton off 51 balls. Rossouw is also the first South African to hit a hundred in the T20 World Cup.

While skipper Temba Bavuma got out cheaply, Quinton de Kock and Rossouw took the game to a different level with their partnership of 168 runs off 81 balls. Proteas are currently looking for their first win of the tournament. Their first match against Zimbabwe got washed out and the points were shared. However, Bangladesh are coming off a win against the Netherlands.
