Ex-BCCI chief N Srinivasan's ‘homosexual' son Ashwin has accused him of pressing to marry and “have progeny to carry on the lineage”.

In an interview to DNA, Ashwin said that he and his partner – Avi Mukherjee – have been whisked away to Chennai after Ashwin spoke of his brother-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan having connections with well-known bookies from Chennai and Dubai in May 2014.

Currently, he told, they are held captive in Chennai's tony First Avenue neighbourhood of Boat Club near his father's residence.

Ashwin told the daily that he wants his father to give him his share of the family property and allow him to live his life the way he wants, with his partner Avi. He said that they are being held captive against their will and he was being tortured by Srinivasan to break up with Avi, get married and have children to further the family line.

On being asked for proof of this by the daily, Ashwin forwarded six hand-written letters written by his father over last few years. “In his own handwriting you can see how he sees my homosexuality and partner as an aberration. He has had the benefit of a foreign education and exposure because of being well-travelled. Yet, he continues to harbour such thoughts about same-sex relationships”, he said.

As mentioned by Ashwin, the letters – all written on N Srinivasan's personal stationery between 2007 and 2008 – actually stood by what he told.

In one of the letters, the ex-BCCI chief has asked his son “to re-enter the normal society which he left years ago to associate with India Cements”.

In yet another letter, it is further written, “Until you change, I am going to induct Rupa (Ashwin's sister married to Gurunath Meiyappan) on to the Indian Cements Board.”

He has further written to Ashwin that he can join the Board after he accomplishes the changes (of marrying to a woman) that he (Srinivasan) has suggested.

After this, several letters (as given below) were exchanged between the father and son which Ashwin claimed have “come to violence and threats” from letters.

When the BCCI chief was asked about the same, he said, “This is a personal matter between father and son. Why should I talk about it? I have no comment to offer”.
