  • Let's Play! Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell will open the batting for Blackcaps while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will open the bowling for Men in Blue.
  • India Playing XI: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant(w), Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel
  • New Zealand Playing XI: Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert(w), James Neesham, Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee(c), Adam Milne, Trent Boult

  • Toss: Rohit Sharma has won the toss and opted to bowl first
  • Rohit Sharma: We are going to field first. We have seen it here, it's a nice option to go with. Considering the dew factor, it's good to chase in Ranchi. It was a good effort from the boys. It was a good learning for them as they finished the game, it was a good positive to have from that game. The game is such that you need some energy and experience. We have youngsters who want to express themselves, it's a good setup, it's important moving forward. We have one change, Harshal comes in for Siraj.

  • Tim Southee: We would have bowled first, taking the dew into consideration. It's always about trying to improve. We have to focus on the positives. We'll have to deal with the dew, and find a way to put up a good performance. We have three changes.

  • Rohit Sharma rubs his hand on the grass and the India captain isn't happy as the dew has already settled in. Toss is going to be very crucial.
  • Harshal Patel is all set to make his India Debut and he gets the cap from former India Test bowler Ajit Agarkar.
  • Pitch report by Deep Dasgupta and Ajit Agarkar: The average score at this venue is 155, it's a big ground with big dimensions. There's very little grass on the wicket, it'll be a good pitch for spinners and bowlers who can bowl cutters. The team bowling first might extract some purchase as compared to the team bowling second. Looks a tacky wicket.
  • Toss in 15 minutes
