IND vs BAN Asia Cup 2023 Highlights: Heartbreak for India as Bangladesh win thriller by 6 runs

Bangladesh kept calm in the end to render India a heartbreak in the final Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours winning a thrilling game by 6 runs. India kept fighting but Mustafizur Rahman's 49th over was the game-changer taking wickets of two set batters.

It seemed like the Axar Patel-Shardul Thakur partnership will take India home but both departed in the same over of Mustafizur Rahman as Bangladesh inched a step closer to a thrilling win against India.

Team India are still knocking on the doors of a win but Bangladesh keep coming back. Mahedi Hasan took his second wicket of the match and probably the most important one as he dismissed the set batter Shubman Gill with a wide delivery who could only hit as far as the long-off fielder.

Shubman Gill batted well on a tricky Colombo surface as he brought up his fifth ODI century. Gill is the only hope for India given the run rate required is near 8.

Suryakumar Yadav's torrid run in ODIs continues as he got out after scoring 26 runs while attempting to sweep a delivery from Shakib Al Hasan, which wasn't full enough. India have now lost five wickets and are in deep trouble as the require run rate is now above 7.

Suryakumar Yadav while surviving a couple of chances has managed to stitch some partnership with Shubman Gill to keep India's hopes alive. The require rate is 7 and India will need the duo to take the partnership forward till at least the 40th over.

Ishan Kishan got out owing to poor shot selection as Mehidy Hasan Miraz opened his account. India are 98/4 now and need Shubman Gill to go big. Even though the batting is deep today, India need a couple of batters to get those 80-100 runs.

Shubman Gill brought up his 10th ODI fifty as despite wickets falling all around him, he has kept India in the hunt in a tricky 267-run chase.

Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan broke the 57-run stand by dismissing set KL Rahul. Rahul and Shubman Gill stabilised the Indian innings but it wasn't to be for the wicketkeeper batter. India still require 177 more runs to win.

After Rohit's early dismissal, the debutant pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib removes Tilak Varma. India down for two wickets with just 17 runs on the scoreboard. KL Rahul walks in at no.4 ahead of Suryakumar Yadav.

Bangladesh ended up with a score of 265 runs on the board batting first, owing to some brilliant batting by skipper Shakib Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy and Nasum Ahmed at the end. However, India's poor fielding and catching have to take some of the blame for those extra 15-20 runs.

Nasum Ahmed gave the required finish scoring a run-a-ball 44 as he helped Bangladesh cross 250. But he got out in the 48th over as Prasidh Krishna bowled him.

Mohammed Shami got the big wicket of Towhid Hridoy as Bangladesh lost their 7th wicket. Hridoy scored 54 runs and was one of the big reasons why Bangladesh crossed the 200-run mark.

Ravindra Jadeja got his first wicket of the evening, getting rid of Shamim Hossain as he completed 200 scalps in the ODI format. Jadeja became the second Indian player after Kapil Dev to achieve a doubel of 2000 runs and 200 wickets in ODIs.

Shardul Thakur gives India a much-needed breakthrough with Shakib Al Hasan's big wicket in the 34th over. A thick inside edge ended Shakib's impressive knock as Bangladesh lost five wickets with just 160 runs on the scoreboard. Shamim Hossain walks out to bat.

Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy completed a 100-run stand for the fifth wicket as Bangladesh balanced the game. Shakib bat at 80* and Towhid scored 40* as Bangladesh put 160 for 4 after 33 overs.
