  • The Indian hasn't confirmed Bumrah being ruled out of the World Cup

IND vs SA, 2nd T20I: Ahead of the all-important T20 World Cup that will be played in Australia later this year, team India has faced a major setback. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah has sustained a back injury and has been ruled out of the South Africa series. This news comes in after there was a long-standing doubt about Jasprit Bumrah and his fitness. The Indian time might have rushed with Bumrah's case which might have aggravated his injury.

As of now, Bumrah's chances of taking that flight to Australia for the T20 World Cup looks pretty bleak. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come under heavy scrutiny for how they handled their lead speedster's back injury. Bumrah, who last played for India on July 14, 2022, against England was expected to regain his full form and fitness just before the World Cup, but as of now, the possibility of his participation in the World Cup looks very doubtful.

Rohit Sharma-led team India has now included speedster Mohd. Siraj in the squad. The Royal Challengers Bangalore stalwart has been an integral part of India's pace attack in the red ball format but as far as the white ball format is concerned, Siraj hasn't had the same impact. It was pretty unlikely for India to include Siraj in their white ball plans, but Ravindra Jadeja being ruled out and now an injury scare to Jasprit Bumrah has forced the Indian team to include an express seamer in their pace battery.

Squads:

India:

Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Mohd. Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shahbaz Ahmed, Umesh Yadav
