Kohli has always been inspired by Dhoni.

In the historic Australian tour, the cricketing world witnesses a new Virat Kohli, not in a batsman role but as a leader. India beat the hosts in the Test series by 2-1 and ODI also with the same aggregate while the T20I affairs ended with a 1-1 draw.

The next challenge for the Indian skipper is the New Zealand tour where he will face the Kane Williamson Army who is currently the most balanced side in world cricket with top players in every position.

Kohli can take some tips from his former skipper and teammate Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is the only Indian captain to win an ODI series on New Zealand's soil.

The 30-year old has never toured the Kiwi land as a skipper while Dhoni led the Men in Blue twice over there in which he won the five-match ODI series by 3-1 in 2008-09.

The second time when Dhoni went there as a captain in 2013/2014 it turned out to be a disastrous series for the Asian giants.

It's time for Kohli to become the second Indian skipper to achieve the same feat in which legends like Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar and Bishan Singh failed as a leader.

The last time when 'Run Machine' Kohli went to NZ back in 2013/14 for five-match ODI series he was the top scorer for the visitors as he smashed 291 runs at an average of 58.20.

As a batsman, no one in world cricket has doubts over Kohli's ability as he is probably the greatest batsman of this generation as from the past three years he has been leading the leading run-scorer charts.

Team India is riding high on confidence after thrashing the Australian team in every department and format in the two and a half month long tour.

The positive outcome from the tour for Kohli is the destructive form of Dhoni who is back to his best. While the no.4 batting position is still a mystery to solve for the skipper ahead of the 2019 World Cup after Ambati Rayudu’s flop show in Australia.
