Sachin Tendulkar said that there was no need for Sourav Ganguly to clarify his comments
Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday brushed aside any sense of disagreement between him and former India opening partner and captain Sourav Ganguly regarding their views on the India-Pakistan clash in the 2019 World Cup.
Following the terrorist attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed in Jammu & Kashmir's Pulwama district, where 40 CRPF jawans were killed, cries of boycotting Pakistan in England has gotten louder and everybody has had their say.
While some are of the opinion that India should not play Pakistan in Manchester on June 16, some feel that the game should go on and India should trounce their rivals to avenge the dead.
Tendulkar also had his say.
"India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament," said Tendulkar in a statement to PTI.
Ganguly also made his thoughts known.
"He (Sachin) wants two points against Pakistan, I want the World Cup," Ganguly said.
Following the comments, the media was abuzz about the difference in opinions between two of India's greatest cricketers ever but the duo took to Twitter to clarify their stand on it and rule out any sense of difference in opinion.
"A lot of people in the media is trying to put my statement against Sachin's when I said "I want the World Cup" My response has got nothing to do with his statement, nor is my statement against his .. he is, has been and will be one of my best friends for last 25 years," Ganguly tweeted.
To which, Sachin retweeted and wrote: "Never felt the need for you to justify. Strongly believe that all of us want what’s best for our nation."
The CoA-led (Committe of Administrators)BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is however yet to take a call on the matter and said that a call will be taken near the date of the game.
"The 16th of June is very far away. We will take a call on that much later and in consultation with the government," CoA chief Vinod Rai said after a meeting on February 23
